Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains what data HabitFlame handles and why. HabitFlame is a habit tracking app for iPhone and iPad. Most of your data stays on your device. The sections below describe the specific cases where data is processed, and where a small amount of data is sent to a service to make a feature work.

Analytics

HabitFlame uses PostHog to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. Analytics are tied to a pseudonymous random identifier generated on your device. This identifier is not your name or email, and it is not linked to your Apple ID.

The events we collect describe app usage, such as which features and screens are used, along with crash and error reports that help us find and fix problems. Analytics may also include session recordings of in-app interactions and screens, captured under the same pseudonymous identifier, and technical telemetry about network requests the app makes. These recordings help us understand where the app confuses people or breaks. We do not show advertising, we do not sell your data, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Partner Invites

When you create or accept an accountability partner invite, a small amount of data is sent to the app's invite service, which is hosted on Supabase, so that two people can pair and send each other nudges. This includes:

• The display name you chose in the app.
• An anonymous identity key that represents your account without revealing who you are.
• Your device push token, which is used to deliver partner notifications and nudges.

Invite codes expire seven days after they are created. When you delete a partner, the pairing is revoked on the server so no further activity or nudges can be exchanged.

While you are paired, the activity you share with a partner travels off your device to reach them: the names of shared habits, completion events, milestones, streak counts, nudges, reactions, and your display name are relayed through the invite service and Apple's push notification system to your partner's device. This is the core of the accountability feature. Only your paired partners receive this activity, and unpairing stops it.

Apple Health

If you link a habit to Apple Health, HabitFlame reads only the metrics you authorize, such as steps, workouts, weight, and the other metrics you connect, and uses them solely to complete matching habits. Health data is read on your device only. It never leaves your device and is never sent to any server. You can revoke access at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings.

Habit Data

Your habits, completion history, and streaks are stored on your device. If you use iCloud, this data syncs through your own private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit, so it is available across your devices. It is protected by your Apple ID, and the developer cannot read it.

Children's Privacy

HabitFlame does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date above.
